Title: Aging Gracefully...or not
Rating: R for language
Warnings/Spoiler/author's note: K, so this is RPF cause well, last night while watching Hawaii Five-0 I am pretty sure I noticed Alex O'Loughlin's hair no longer had the sexy grays at his temple and scattered through...which annoyed me. So I figure something must be done. Also wrote it after watching the episode three times so yes, I was a smidge obsessed. Have not yet decided if there will be other little moments to write but this might be just a one shot.
Disclaimer: I do not know them, have no idea if they had this conversation but if it were me, something would be said to the man.
Summary: Scott arrives on set and notices something odd about Alex

"Sorry. Overslept."

"Yeah, nothing’s been on schedule today." Alex smiled at his friend and tilted his head when he noticed how intently Scott was gazing at him. "What?"

"The fuck?"

"Excuse me?"

Scott walked around him, looking at his head. In an attempt to knock some sense into him, Scott smacked Alex upside the back of his head before standing in front of him again and glaring at him. "The fuck?" he repeated.

"Okay. WHAT?" Alex asked.

"What? If you are asking me what I am completely confused about, then I probably should have smacked you harder."

"What?"

"Your hair, Alex. What in the fuck did you do to your hair?"

"Nothing."

"Nothing? You're going with that playing dumb?"

Alex shrugged and nodded while trying to be as nonchalant and cool as possible. "Nothing." He’d thought it would work and no one would notice.

"Idiot."

"Hey, why am I an idiot?"

"How old are you?" Scott only gave him about a half of a second to answer before deciding to answer for him. "Wait. I know. You are exactly one day younger than I am so we are thirty-four. We are not in our twenties anymore and if you would take a look at my face you'll see it is perfectly normal to have a few scattered grays in your hair, wherever they may be located. You, however, go away for a weekend and come back thinking you're twenty-four." Scott shook his head and walked away, leaving a still stupidly confused Alex, head tilted and all, watching his back as he left.

To be honest, I didn't notice it, but this fic definitely gave me a laugh anyway!

Not that Scott could complain about going grey, at least his would more blend into his own hair. Need pouty!Alex now. :P

LOL Glad to give you a laugh! :D Well, I love the gray and have a habit of looking for it first because it just looks so good on Alex so that is why I noticed immediately it wasn't there.

I love the grey in Scott's stubble. And that seemed extremely noticeable when they were in the truck but I'm guessing it was because Alex's grey was gone. *sigh*

Aww, thankee! I keep thinking there's more conversations maybe throughout the day about the hair but I haven't written anything yet. I do have this after the Globes fic with Scott and Alex that I've been working on so that will be posted...someday!

It is much more obvious in his dark hair isn't it? I find it awfully sexy though! :D There's this pic of the two of them that I couldn't exactly find in a scene during the episode and it was screaming a little to me this morning so I just might have to write something. :)

I noticed it too! I was so upset because I find the grey Verrrryy Sexay! I kept looking and thinking it was maybe a trick of the light or something.

I know right!! Oh I was so upset the grey was gone! I literally watched the full episode three times Monday night and I kept pausing and rewinding to make sure it was really gone. There was this moment in the truck when I thought maybe it was back but no...it wasn't. Which of course led to my need for someone smacking him upside the head for making the grey go away and Scott was of course first choice!

Gibbs-smacks Alex!

I noticed that too because the (totally sexy) gray is there in the beginning and not near the end when they're on the curb and his hair is darker than usual. I'd like to think it wasn't his decision in some ways but then it pisses me off that they'd make him dye his hair.

I also watched it about three times already, lol.

Ya know, I was thinking his hair was darker than normal but then thought it was just because the grey was gone. Hmmm...

Yeah, I never understood why tptb mess with things like that. It's hair, it's part of what makes him sexy, leave him alone! :)

OMG this was the cutest ever. I could TOTALLY see Scott acting like this. You have his 'tone' perfectly, Alex's as well. This made me giggle, it's so cute I hope there is more. I did notice, but I also thought for some reason he looked 'older' in this episode? Maybe it's just in his face, he looked tired?

Yeah, I figured since they're the same age and Scott's got grays of his own that he'd be a bit annoyed that Alex doesn't have the gray anymore and possibly worried about it enough to get rid of the gray. I'm actually working on another little conversation based on a picture from the filming of the episode that wasn't actually shown in the episode. If that made sense! lol

Hmm, I'll have to 'force' myself to watch again. Thinking about it he did kinda look tired or off or something. Or that could have been the fact that I was so thrown by his hair that all of Alex was a little off!

Yeah, I was worried it was just me for a while or the fact that I have a tiny little portable TV I watch which of course doesn't help seeing any small details! :D

Maybe you should do a 'twin' fic on Alex commenting on the obvious amounts of hair spray Scott (or wardrobe) must put in his hair to make sure it does not move with 100 mile winds LMAO.

I think I posted somewhere else that it would be great to have a fic about 'hair kink' LOL Scott would obviously love the grey in Alex's hair while Alex would LOVE to play with that little 'point' that Scott's hair comes to at the nape of his neck :D

LOL I am writing another little conversation where Scott simply can't look at the hair so I should add how Alex can't look at Scott's sprayed hair which is reminiscent of the lovely 80s hair I know I had!

Oh man...that point in Scott's hair at the nape of his neck. Whew. Yeah, definitely should be something written about that. I get flustered so easily and lose focus so I don't think I could do it...well, not if it was to be finished in the next few months! LOL

I had noticed as well and I think part of it is Alex's hair is getting longer...His hair was nice and dark in the first episode but the grey, which I find sexxy as hell, popped up in the second and then monday night's episode it was gone. Comment ot my husband about it too!

It could be that it is because his hair is getting a little longer. I'm gonna 'force' myself to watch the episodes again this weekend and check out the grays and when they appear and disappear! *giggles* Yeah, just gonna be so difficult to do! ;) I finally convinced my husband he would like the show and when he enjoyed a couple of episodes I figure if I wanna keep him watching I shouldn't let on that I notice things like gray hair or various other things of that nature! *giggles*
